Where do sails leave from?

Most sails and charters around Playa Flamingo depart from Marina Flamingo, at the north end of the bay, minutes from anywhere in town. A few operators pick up at the beach or run from nearby Tamarindo, so always check the exact meeting point on your booking.

Should I pick a sunset cruise or a day sail?

Sunset cruises are shorter and social: drinks, music, and golden hour on the water. Day sails usually add snorkel and swim stops at nearby coves and often include lunch. If you want water time, choose a day sail; if you want the view, choose sunset.

What is the difference between a group tour and a private charter?

Group tours sell per-person spots on a shared boat and are the budget-friendly option. Private charters give your group the whole boat and a more custom itinerary. Note that charter prices are often for the full boat rather than per person, so check each listing’s details.

Do I need to book ahead?

In high season (roughly December through April) the well-reviewed boats regularly fill up, so booking a few days ahead is sensible. Most listings offer free cancellation, but check the policy on each tour before you book.
